Story Recorder lets you record a Viz Mosart-driven show and generate clips from it. It tracks every Take next command frame accurately, records the PGM output, and builds an Edit Decision List (EDL) in the order the items were taken. Stories can be published as individual clips, or the whole show can be combined into a single clip.

Because the recording is cut using timecodes rather than by starting and stopping the recorder, a rendering or transcoding step always produces the final clips.

Story clip production and publishing

Stories tagged for recording in the NRCS are recorded and published as individual clips, either during a live broadcast or in an offline session.

Show clip production with pause and retake

A full show recording that can be paused, retaken, and backtracked. The EDL is sent to a transcoder that stitches the segments into one clip.

Mosart EDL generation

EDL files written locally for post-production or third-party systems.

The Story Recorder Panel

Open the panel from the menu bar with View > Floating windows > Story Recorder tool (Viz Mosart Administrator Guide > Operation Examples > Story Recorder > Working with Story Recorder). It shows the EDL as it is built during a session: each story and story item as it is recorded, with start times, durations, and status. From the panel you can pause the timeline, select a retake point, review the cut, and broadcast the finished EDL.

A REC toggle also appears at the top of the timeline when the loaded rundown contains stories tagged for recording. Pale red means Story Recorder is enabled but not recording. Blinking bright red means recording is running.

The panel is required for the show clip workflow, where you pause and retake. It is not required for story clip production, which runs automatically at story boundaries.
