About Showmaker

Showmaker is a lightweight, web-based, efficient MOS-rundown creation tool, eliminating the need of a complex newsroom system.

Showmaker provides all features needed to quickly create and control a Viz Mosart show, with rundowns and stories that contain automation templates, graphics, clips and scripts.

Typical Usage

• Standalone creation of Viz Mosart-automated shows.

• Provide an independent backup for a newsroom system.

• Quickly get on air. Especially useful at the beginning of a project:

  • The automation is prepared in advance, not requiring any newsroom system.

  • If you are using a newsroom system, all automation can be prepared upfront in Showmaker.

• Enables non-journalist skeleton staff (for example, in the middle of the night) to get breaking news on-air.

• Shared production: Team members collaborate in a single place, preparing and managing rundown content for automated or semi automated productions. You can see who else is in a rundown while you work, leave comments on a story, and draw a colleague in with an @mention that reaches them in their own inbox.

• Structured workspace: Visually organize with a clear overview, shows, rundowns and rundown templates, all in one place.

• Automation integration: Add and edit Viz Mosart templates.

• Graphics gathered: Optional Viz Flowics (HTML graphics) and Viz Pilot Edge graphics all in the same tool.

• Show assets: Keep a show's recurring graphics in one place and drop them into a story when needed, either from the assets panel or by typing a slash command straight into the script.

• Story crafting: Rapid modification of scripts, manual items, and timing information in a single, elegant UI. Item durations can be calculated from the script itself, using your own reading-speed presets, and a story's duration follows the items inside it.

• Video clips: Search the media server by clip name, preview a clip at full resolution before committing to it, and, where a TriCaster is used, upload a clip to its clip server from inside Showmaker.

• Synchronized operations: Updates display immediately in the active Viz Mosart rundown.

• Confidence before air: An attributed change history shows who changed what in a rundown and when, and an undo step recovers a story or item deleted by mistake.

• Controlled access: Where authentication is enabled, the people who build shows and the people who only need to read them can be separated by role.

Why Showmaker

5. Mark it ready to air, so that it becomes the operator's active rundown.

Showmaker in your Ecosystem

Showmaker is part of the suite of Mosart Web Apps, browser-based tools served from a single host and included with every Viz Mosart delivery.

Showmaker covers the role played by a newsroom system in a traditional setup, owning the rundown and pushing it to Viz Mosart for playout.

Technically, Viz Pilot Edge, Viz Flowics and the Mosart NRCS Plugin display asset panels inside Showmaker as iframes that exchange MOS messages directly in your browser, so you do not have to open separate applications.
