Viz World 24.0.0

Release Date: 2025-05-15

These are the release notes for Viz World 24.0.0. This document describes the user-visible changes that have been made to the software since release 23.0.0.

Functionality Removed or Changed

Satellite Imagery in Viz World: Migration from SecureWatch to MGP

Viz World offers satellite imagery through the Natural Earth StyleSheet when combined with a Digital Globe license.

Maxar, the external data provider for Digital Globe imagery, currently uses their SecureWatch system. However, Maxar is transitioning to the new Maxar Geospatial Platform (MGP), requiring all Viz World users to migrate accordingly.

Viz World 24.0 fully supports both the legacy SecureWatch system and the new Maxar Geospatial Platform. The migration process is simple, requiring only an upgrade to your installed Digital Globe license.

Known Issues

  • Viz World Server Launcher must run with elevated privileges to launch Viz World Server as a service (MAPS-5530).

  • Viz World Server must be restarted after manually scanning street data (MAPS-6275).

  • Viz World Server leaks memory when targeted by a port scan (MAPS-5597).

  • When editing multi-hop scenes, it is possible to select Favorites. This is not intended functionality, and it causes errors if you do (MAPS-6319).

  • Styles with names including non-English letters can exhibit bugs (MAPS-5714).

    • Workaround: Use English letters only.

  • Favorites with names including the plus symbol + can exhibit bugs (MAPS-5731).

    • Workaround: Avoid the use of the plus symbol.

  • If the MapService.Service process is running, it must be manually stopped before uninstalling Viz World Client (MAPS-5902).

  • Viz World Server Classic crashes when using trail ahead with slide out animation (MAPS-7608).

  • Viz World Server restarts when loading street data (MAPS-7606).

    • This has also been observed after data is loaded and the Streets tool is selected.

  • Rendering issue (land color covers ocean) in Stereographic projection (MAPS-7609).
