The Template Editor has two working surfaces: the dashboard, where you browse galleries, template sets, templates and sequences and see how sets inherit from one another, and the editor, where you build one template's commands on a timeline.
The Dashboard
The Template Editor opens on the dashboard, headed Galleries. On the left are the template sets, and on the right the contents of the selected set.
Browsing template sets
The sets pane can be laid out three ways, chosen from its view options:
List view: a flat list of sets, filtered as you type with Filter by set name.
Tree view: sets nested under the sets they are based on, so the inheritance structure itself is the navigation. Folders open only when you toggle them, and Space toggles the selected folder.
Column view: each level of the inheritance chain as its own column, side by side, in the style of a column file browser.
The sets pane is resizable, and each set row carries its own actions for editing or deleting the set.
The set summary
Selecting a set shows a summary card before you open anything:
Inheritance chain: the set's ancestry, level by level, from the set itself back to the root, with the current set marked.
Template breakdown: how the set's visible templates divide into Inherited (unchanged), Overrides (shadow parent) and New local (no parent version), with the total visible.
This answers the everyday questions about a set, namely what it adds, what it changes and what it merely passes through, without opening a single template.
The templates table
The selected set's templates are listed with their title and description, main identifier, status, created and last-edited dates. A search field filters the table, and each row's annotation tells you where the template comes from: inherited, an override, or local to this set.
Creating a template: Create new asks for a title, a type and an optional description. The combination of type and title must be unique within the set.
Editing an override safely: a template that overrides an inherited one behaves as you would hope. Renaming it, or changing its type, saves a copy in the current set and keeps the inherited template. Deleting the override restores the inherited version from the parent set, and the confirmation dialog says exactly that, naming the set the inherited version comes from.
Hiding a template: a template can be marked Hide from user, and a set can block an inherited template entirely. A row marked Hidden in this set means playout skips it there, and the inherited version is blocked in that set.
Sequences
Next to Templates, the dashboard has a Sequences tab. A sequence is a named, timed series of items, each with an in-point and a duration in frames, built on its own timeline.
New sequence creates one in the selected set; a search field filters the list.
Open a sequence and add items with Add item…. Each row carries its In (ff) and Dur (ff), and items are reordered by dragging, or with Move up and Move down.
On the timeline, drag an item to adjust its offset and drag its edge to set its duration, zooming in and out as needed. A Graphics out marker sets where graphics are taken out.
Managing sets
Add set creates a new template set: a name, and optionally the set it is Based on, which is what places it in the inheritance tree. Recall settings for the set are grouped in the same dialog, and a template whose recall is not wired up is flagged with a warning that it will not recall on air unless a matching direct take exists. Deleting a set removes the templates in it, and the confirmation says so; the deletion cannot be undone.
The Editor
Opening a template takes you to the editor. H, or the back control, returns to the dashboard.
Template title bar
The header shows the selected template's name, variant, description and location, and carries:
Mix Delay: a frame-based delay applied to specific command types (main source switches, region source switches, audio fades) when the template is taken to air, for fine-tuning on-air action timings. If Mix Delay is enabled, individual command offsets are ignored. Mix Delay becomes available once the template has a Switch Main or Switch Region command.
Save, and a menu with Edit (rename, change type, update the description or the Mix Delay value) and Delete.
The ? help menu: Keyboard Shortcuts, Documentation, What's new, Give feedback and About.
Commands list and timeline
The Commands panel presents two complementary views, switched between Timeline and List. Both are interactive and synced with the Command properties panel.
Timeline view: a visual representation of when each command executes during the Cue, Take and Out phases, showing offsets and transition lengths. Multi-phase commands, such as Switch Main or Switch Region, are visible across the phases they act in. Offsets and transition rates can be adjusted by dragging directly on the timeline.
List view: the same commands and their core properties in a compact linear layout, for quick review when precise timing visualization is not required.
Info: Commands are grouped by device category (for example switcher commands, audio mixer commands), not by execution sequence. This reflects the structural grouping within a template, but not necessarily the order Viz Mosart executes them at runtime.
Adding commands
Click the + button at the top right of the Commands view to open the command library.
Browse by device type (for example Switcher, Audio Mixer). Each command entry has a short description, with Show more for details.
Select a command and click Add. Editing continues immediately in Command properties.
Tip: To add several commands in a row, hold Shift when you click Add. The dialog stays open so you can keep going.
Info: A command created in the desktop Template Editor may carry an annotation that some behaviours, such as how Mix Delay applies, can differ. See Transitioning from the old Template Editor.
Audio fader panel
The Audio Fader panel gives a quick overview of all Set Fader commands in the template, showing each configured channel's source name (for example MIC 1) and its level in dB. Adjust a level by dragging the fader directly, and select the command in the list or timeline to change its other parameters, such as the trigger.
Command properties
The Command properties panel shows the configurable options for the selected command. Which properties appear depends on the command and the device it targets; the full set is documented in the Command Reference.

Info: In this version, only file-based templates are supported, so there is no gallery to choose: the file is the single template source. Support for gallery-based template databases will be introduced in a future release.
